air drive oil and gas

How It Works

BUILT. INSTALLED. PROVEN.

CONCEPT

The AirDrive “Positive Gas Displacement System” has been tried and tested in a wide variety of stripper wells. This oil & gas vessel works on the same operating principal as the standard beer keg.

THE VESSEL

The AirDrive system operates using a similar principle to that of a beer keg, where compressed gas acts on the surface of a liquid to expel it from the vessel. The “Vessels” are deployed on ½ & 3/8 in. coiled stainless-steel tubing, having the ability to fully adjust themselves from no flow up to their maximum flow rate ability, which is typically, up to 90 barrels per day. With the combination of limited moving parts and an all 316 stainless steel construction, the AirDrive vessel greatly reduces the need for down well maintenance.

THE GAS

Supply Compressed gas is supplied to the vessel from a 5HP compressor through a small, high pressure, gas distribution line. The compressor station is usually located at the tank battery which can be miles away from the vessel and is able to operate 10+ wells. instead of ambient air lease gas that is produced can be utilized, at a 0% loss then sold to the local midstream company.

THE CONTROLLER

The AirDrive Vessel on its own will not operate without a controller. The Vessel controller provides the automatic operation of the AirDrive system. Unlike many alternative lifting methods, the AirDrive control system adapts to varying bore recharge rates without the need for additional hardware, self-modulating to the amount of liquid available at any given period resulting in vessel efficiency above 98%. If there is no fluid to the vessel for prolonged periods, the control system simply waits for more fluid before restarting, optimizing recovery in low flow situations. The amount of energy consumed is proportional to the amount of inflow from the well, in very low in-flow situations, the energy consumption is minimal.

  • SCADA (Supervised Control And Data Acquisition) The AirDrive PGD System uses the latest tech to provide the most accurate and reliable data available for well monitoring. This data can be accessed remotely via WiFi connectivity.
  • The controller and SCADA systems are powered by a 12v battery charged by solar energy.

IN CONCLUSION

AirDrive’s PGD System has culminated into a comprehensive alternative solution to the enormous problems affecting shallow oil and gas wells worldwide.
